Resources to Make a Difference

This is just a place to start. There are so many organizations, tools, and resources that are not listed here. I plan to try to update this list over time, but for people who are just getting started, it might be helpful.

Make Your Voice Heard

  • 5 Calls App – Helps you call your congressional representatives and provides scripts for the issues that matter the most
  • Democratic Party of Illinois – Find a local chapter, get involved, and help shape the party to make it serve the people
  • Republican Party of Illinois – Find a local chapter, get involved, and help shape the party to make it serve the people
  • Indivisible – Join a group in the fight against fascism. There doesn’t seem to be an active group in Peoria right now, but I’m keeping an eye out. Maybe I’ll even help try to get it going
  • 50501 Movement – Decentralized movement to speak out against fascism starting with 50 protests in 50 states on 1 day

Economic Actions

  • The General Strike – Find out more about a planned economic strike to send a strong message to the billionaires who are tearing down our institutions
  • Buy Nothing Project – Decrease your dependence on corporations for goods while decreasing your carbon footprint
  • Open Secrets – Non-Partisan site that tracks information about companies and their political donations – support companies that support you
  • Goods Unite Us – Find out which politicians companies are donating to and whether their contributions are more or less likely to support campaign finance reform
